Dennis Rude began his career as a mason with an apprenticeship with the Stonecutters and Carvers Association
of North America in 1961. After serving four years in the United States Navy, he returned and was soon hired
as a stonecutter for the Washington National Cathedral. By 1977, he had become superintendent of The National
Cathedral's Stone Works and one year later, he became the owner. He renamed it Cathedral Stone Company
and began working for local contractors. During that time he cut, carved and set stone on the White House,
Smithsonian buildings, Washington Monument, U.S. Capitol, Pentagon and hundreds of private homes and
other institutions.
In 1982, Dennis began importing JAHN mortars to the United States through Cathedral Stone Products, Inc.
Today we are the only manufacturer of JAHN Masonry Restoration Systems in the United States. In recent years,
he and the company began developing, manufacturing and distributing a full line of biodegradable masonry
cleaners, water repellents, potassium silicate coatings, biological treatments, paint strippers, and acrylic coating
removers that are fully compatible with each other as well as JAHN Masonry Restoration Systems.
